Alumni Association Presents 2023 Service Awards

2023 Alumni Awards Recipients

The Bloomfield College Alumni Association (BCAA) presented eight service awards at its inaugural Distinguished Alumni Brunch held at The Highlawn on May 21, 2023, the day following the College’s milestone 150th commencement.

“We enjoyed a beautiful day in celebration of the dedicated members of the Alumni Association and the work they have done for our students and the institution over the years,” said BCAA President Maurice A. Lyle ’09. “These alumni are among those who have devoted their time, talent and treasure over decades of time in support of the students who are following in their footsteps. They are an integral part of the Bloomfield College community, and we are all grateful for the positive outcomes we continue to reap from the commitment they exhibit.”

The 2023 BCAA Distinguished Alumni Awards were presented as follows:

Distinguished Alumni Presidential Award –John J. Delucca ’66
Distinguished Alumni Leadership Award –Sheila Wooten ’85
Distinguished Alumni Membership Award –Lisa Dews ’02
Distinguished Alumni Membership Award –John Skowronski ’91
Distinguished Alumni Leadership Award –John Murdock ’73
Distinguished Alumni Membership Award –Mary Jessup ’03
Distinguished Alumni Staff Award –Celeste Walden-Kelley ’15

In addition, the BCAA presented the Above and Beyond Award toBloomfield College President Marcheta P. Evans, Ph.D.in recognition of “her exceptional performance that resulted in the planned merger with Montclair State University,” said Lyle. “The Alumni Association wanted to express our gratitude to Dr. Evans for her invaluable contributions to the institution. We also wanted her to know that her tenure as President of Bloomfield College will forever be etched in our memories and attached to the legacy of the College.”

Elected in December 2022, the highly active BCAA Executive Board has moved forward with its ambitious plans for numerous initiatives, including activities focused on strengthening alumni relationships with students through new mentoring opportunities to help students learn more about the varied career pathways that may be open to them within their majors to best prepare them for life after graduation.

As theplanned mergerthat will create Bloomfield College of Montclair State University approaches this summer, alumni interested in re-engagement with the College community are invited to become involved.
