Bloomfield College Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty Michael A. Palladino, Ph.D., was recently honored with the Distinguished Service Award from theAmerican Society of Andrology (ASA)在第48届会议举行Boston, Massachusetts, April 19-23, 2023.
“I am truly honored to be recognized with the Distinguished Service Award by theAmerican Society of Andrology, a society that has meant so much to me since I first became a member in 1989,” said Palladino. “It has been a privilege to serve the Society. Thank you to colleagues who supported my nomination, the ASA Awards Committee, and to the Society.”
Palladino has served in dozens of roles in the ASA, most notably serving as Vice President and then President from April 2020-May 2021, then Immediate Past President, a member of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Finance Committee for seven years, Chair of the Trainee Affairs Committee for four years, as President he chaired the Strategic Planning and Implementation Committees that developed the current Strategic Plan for the ASA, served as a member of the Editorial Board of theJournal of Andrology, and chaired the Exploratory Committee to host the 2025 International Congress of Andrology that was awarded to ASA for the Congress to be held in Washington, D.C. in 2025. Currently, he serves on the Endowment and Development Committee.
In presenting the award to Palladino, Past President of the ASA and 2022 Distinguished Service Award recipientGeorge Gerton, Ph.D., imparted two pages of professional background and ASA contributions, making special mention of Palladino’s exemplary service leading the ASA as its president during the challenges brought on by the pandemic. Gerton also highlighted Palladino’s commitment to mentoring students, saying, “Over the years, Mike has brought his students here from his undergraduate institutions, and it’s been very important for them to see what we do here and the types of careers that are available to them.”
The ASA Distinguished Service Award is bestowed annually to recognize an individual who has provided distinguished service. The recipient must have been a member of the Society for at least ten (10) years, must have no direct affiliation with the organizational sponsors of the award; and must have served the Society in at least three (3) of the following categories: (1) Chair of Standing Committee; (2) Member of Board of Directors; (3) Editor of Journal of Andrology; (4) Chair of Annual Meeting; (5) Officer of Society.
ASA Past President Susan A. Rothmann, Ph.D., HCLD, said, “Mike has been a calm and reasoned force during difficult and sometimes polarized discussions, benefiting ASA for decades starting with the earliest part of his career. His knowledge of fundraising, strategic planning, identification and execution of critical milestones have made him a trusted advisor to many, many ASA presidents.”
Previously, Palladino was the recipient of the ASA’s 1993 New Investigator Award and the 2009 Young Andrologist Award, recognizing significant research contributions to the field of andrology by an ASA member under 45 years of age.
