Korean educators explore sending students to Bloomfield College

Representatives from the Bell International School in Korea met with college president Richard Levao, Peter Jeong, PHD, vice president of the International Training and Professional Studies program, and Adam Castro, vice president for Enrollment Management and Admission, to discuss preparing their high school students to attend Bloomfield College. An agreement was signed to continue open dialogue about sending young Korean students to the college.

Bell International School Principal Lee Hong Nam and Director James Rhee, Ph.D., are interested in Bloomfield College because it has a good reputation for embracing foreign students and providing individual attention. They also liked the proximity to New York City where the students could participate in multicultural events and activities and return to a small, intimate setting like Bloomfield College. Bell School International, a boarding school that emphasizes Biblical studies as well as having high academic standards, has about 300 high school students in the American equivalent of grades 10 through 12. Mr. Lee and Dr. Rhee were exploring Bloomfield College as a recommended institution for their students who wish to continue their studies in America.

“I think the students would enjoy the academic programs that we have, especially those that have class trips to New York City,” says President Levao. “Our emphasis is to expand cultural knowledge among our first-year students and the Bell graduates would certainly add to this as well as learn from it. Learning about different cultures is one of many small steps towards making a better world. ” Principal Lee responded, “Bloomfield College has an excellent reputation for working with international students. I would rather send my students to a known school.” Mr. Lee continued by inviting Mr. Levao, Dr. Jeong, and Mr. Castro to Korea to visit the school and talk with the prospective students.

Bloomfield College has international collaborations with colleges and universities all over the world and has students from more than 50 countries. The International Training and Professional Studies program hosts more than 300 professional teachers and intern students each year in English immersion courses.
