Second-Year Pathways
Sophomores, you made it successfully through the First Year. Now it is time to build on your experiences.
Second Year: Exploration of Academic Major and Career Exploration - PATHWAY II
- Once a student has completed 8 course credit units, they will be assigned a faculty academic advisor
- Meet with faculty academic advisor to discuss academic goals and registration matters
- Review general education and elective requirements with faculty advisor
- Meet with faculty academic advisor to discuss major and/or major changes
- Students will actively research and identify two career fields of interest and conduct informational interviews with mentors, other professionals and/or Bloomfield College alumni to learn about these fields and may seek guidance from CAACE
- Students should begin to seriously build their e-portfolio in order to capture all academic, professional and social development that takes place during the second year and may seek assistance from CAACE
- Students will continue to work with professional mentors to enhance professional development, goal setting and support in meeting those goals
- Students will attend Center for Student Success events designed exclusively for second year students
- Students will update resumes/cover letters and have it critiqued by a member of CAACE
- Students will complete a mock interview with a member of CAACE
- Students will meet with CAACE to secure an internship, study abroad opportunity, research assistantship or summer employment related to career goals and discipline
